Programme Background

Postgraduate Diploma in Shariah Judicial & Litigation Practice is intended to produce qualified graduates in judicial practice, shariah litigation and advocacy skills in the Syariah Court. The programme is designed to meet the knowledge requirements and skills in the judicial and shariah litigation area to be practised in the profession of Shariah law. Students are expected to apply Shariah and legal knowledge learnt during the Bachelor’s Degree level to analyse issues and methods in Shariah legal practice in Malaysia. The programme enhances awareness among students to uphold Islamic law and the principles of justice via judicial practice and shariah legal system promoted by Islam.

Entry Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Law or Sharia or equivalent; or
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 3 years working experience in relevant field.

Career Prospects

• Recruitment into the public sector as Sharia Officer at the Malaysian Sharia Judiciary Department, Sharia Officer at State Sharia Court, or Shari’e prosecutor.
• Recruitment into the private sector as Shariah Advisor, Consultant, or Lawyer.
• Recruitment into the academic field as lecturer or researcher.
