Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahamed Kameel Mydin Meera graduated from the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas, USA in 1996 with a Ph.D. (Finance), magna cum laude. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the field of Economics from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). His interests and expertise involve Finance, Islamic Banking, Financial Markets, Investment Analysis, Macro Economics, Social Issues Economics and Quantitative Methods of Research. He also has gained extensive experience in teaching, training, consulting and research in mentioned fields. His writings have been featured in renowned regional and worldwide journals. He is well-known for his research on the “netting” payment system and the concept of gold-backed currency such as the gold dinar. He also serves as the head of the Malaysian Financial Justice Movement (MMJ), an organisation that works to implement the required monetary reforms in Malaysia and elsewhere in order to promote equity, justice, stability, and long-term socioeconomic growth.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahamed Kameel Mydin Meera is the co-founder of Waqafa International Sdn. Bhd. which is dedicated to the promotion of the Waqf-based Economic Model, utilising uniquely productive waqf to empower the business sector and individual power in the economy. He is of the opinion that this model actually provides a way for Muslims to achieve a pure Islamic Economic and Financial system, capable of garnering wealth, prosperity and peace.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahamed Kameel Mydin Meera is the writer of “The Islamic Gold Dinar” and “The Theft of Nations”, published by Pelanduk Publications and “Real Money” published by International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahamed Kameel Mydin Meera had served as Dean of Graduate School as well as Dean of the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

Currently, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahamed Kameel Mydin Meera holds the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs, Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah, Kuala Kangsar, Perak, Malaysia.
