The Centre for Languages and Foundation Studies (CELFOS) is an academic centre at the Sultan Azlan Shah University which is supported by the Arabic Language Department, the English Language Department and the Centre for Foundation Studies.

CELFOS offers pre-diploma and pre-degree programmes known as the Foundation Studies. These programmes are designed and offered as a requirement and preparation into diploma and bachelor’s degree levels. CELFOS offers various Malay, English and Arabic language courses required by the Faculties. Several courses especially Arabic and English are made compulsory, to fulfil the study requirements. The Centre also offers language courses to staff of the University, government departments, the private sector and the public.

In addition, CELFOS also conducts language researches and provides language consultation as well as translation and editing services. The translation services offered are from Arabic and English into Malay and vice-versa. Translating and editing services cover various formats such as manuscripts, articles, documents and pamphlets.
