Programme Background

Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) is a 3.5 years study programme, designed specifically to equip students with knowledge, skills and experience via integrated education in computing. Graduates in this field will gain insights, skills and expertise in computing, covering four areas namely data management, software quality, cyber security, and digital business. Each course available in the programme is in accordance with the standards set by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). In this programme, students are exposed to problem solving and decision-making to deal with the industrial revolution 4.0 and meet the needs of the computer industry.

Entry Requirements

1. Passed in Matriculation program or in Basic Course equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.00 OR passed STPM or equivalent with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any 2 subjects AND Credit in the following subjects at the SPM level/equivalent.
   a. Additional Matematics; ORb. Mathematics or one of the Science, Technology and EngineeringNote: 
2. Candidate for category i b) need to take Mathematics subject with related topic in Computer Science and Software Engineering in the early study.
3. Students need to pass Mathematics subjects as a prerequisite before being allowed to take the related core courses. However, this stipulation does not prevent students from pursuing other subjects whether core or non-core that do not require the Mathematics subject.
4. The credit value for the Mathematics subjects is an additional credit of the program and can be taken into account for the purpose of graduating credit.
5. The needs of Mathematics subject can be exempted if the Matriculation program or Basic Course or equivalent that offer Mathematics subject and their achievement is equivalent/higher from the needs Credit in Additional Mathematics at the SPM level; OR
6. Passed STPM or equivalent in Science stream with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in Mathematics subject and Science/ICT; OR
7. Passed Diploma (Level 4 MQF) or equivalent in Computer Science OR Software Engineer OR Information Technology OR ATAU Information System with minimum CGPA 2.50;
8. Passed Diploma in Science and Technology with minimum CGPA 2.50; OR
9. *Passed DKM OR DLKM OR DVM in related field OR Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Government of Malaysia.

Note: Candidates for categories iii and iv with CGPA below 2.50 but above 2.50 can be accepted according to an internal evaluation process.

Career Prospects

Upon completing the Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) programme, graduates have several options:

1. Join the workforce either in the private or government sector and they are qualified to be professionals such as software developer, software test engineer, software engineer, software architect, programming analyst, systems developer;
2. Proceed with Master of Computer Science programme; or
3. Proceed with professional certificates such as CompTIA, Ts (MBOT), CCNA, CCNP and others.
