Programme Background

Diploma in Accounting is specifically designed to equip students with knowledge, skills and experience through integrated education in accounting as well as added values in management, entrepreneurship, self-development and information technology. The programme curriculum integrates Islamic accounting, ethics and professionalism as well as information technology elements. Students will study the sub-areas in accounting such as financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, taxation, accounting information systems and computerised accounting. Students are also exposed to problem solving and decision-making in the current business environment situations and meet the needs of the accounting industry. The curriculum developed in this programme is in accordance with the standards set by the Malaysian accounting professional body, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Entry Requirements

1. Acquire SPM or equivalent with minimum credits in 3 subjects including Mathematics and a pass in English; or
2. Passed STPM or equivalent with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any subjects and credits in Mathematics and a pass in English at the SPM level; or
3. Passed STAM with minimum Grade Maqbul and Credit in Mathematics and a pass in English at the SPM level/equivalent; or
4. *Passed SKM Level 3 (Level 3 MQF) in related field; or
5. Passed a recognized Certificate (Level 3 MQF) or equivalent in related field or
6. Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.

English Language Competency Requirements for International Students(s):
Minimum Score IELTS 5.5/ Band 4.0 MUET or equivalent.

Career Prospects

1. Joining the workforce in accounting field either in the private and government sector.
2. Qualified to be sub professionals such as assistant accountant, assistant financial officer, assistant auditor, taxation technician.
3. Further studies in the Bachelor of Accounting programme.
4. Continue to obtain professional certificates in ACCA, MICPA and CIMA.
